How does the MEGATRON® provide the high purity water my hospital needs?
Virtually all microorganisms are susceptible to ultraviolet disinfection. STER-L-RAY ® Germicidal Lamps are shortwave, low pressure tubes that produce ultraviolet wavelengths lethal to microorganisms. Ultraviolet radiation strikes microorganisms in the disinfection chamber, killing the exposed pathogens by dissociating their DNA structure. There are no chemicals involved, and no danger of overdosing or handling mishaps. More importantly, there is no risk of chemical reactions with procedures such as dialysis or equipment sanitization.
Successful purification depends on having the proper dose of UV light needed for the particular organisms to be deactivated. The MEGATRON® uses STER-L-RAY ® Germicidal Ultraviolet Lamps. Available in 4 models, each uses between 4 and 19 germicidal UV lamps. Multiple units can interconnect to comply with nearly any flow rate. Depending on your needs, you can set up the MEGATRON® to disinfect water in one department or your entire hospital.

UV purification is economical, disinfecting hundreds of gallons for each penny of operation cost. The STER-L-RAY ® lamps are designed specifically for use with UV purification systems. They are instant start, which means they require little energy to operate and produce the lethal kill rate desired without generating an abundance of heat. 10,000 hours of continuous use maximizes lamp longevity.
Continuous Disinfection
The MEGATRON® provides automatic and continuous disinfection without special attention. Standard features such as the built in digital monitor allow you to always know the status of your system’s UV output. Routine quartz sleeve cleanings and system maintenance can occur without full system shut-down, keeping purified water continuously supplied. For easy troubleshooting and repair, the electrical enclosure and disinfection chamber operate—and are accessible—separately from each other.
