Prioritize Purified Water for Meat Processing with UV-C

The Many Uses for UV Purified Meat Processing Water

Germicidal UV water disinfection systems provide cost-effective, efficient solutions for sanitizing wash water, rinse water, clean-in-place (CIP) water, and effluent in meat processing facilities. UV-C purified water for meat processing provides automatic and continuous disinfection without special attention or chemicals. It inactivates waterborne bacteria and drastically reduces cross-contamination.

Rinse and Clean-in-Place (CIP) Water Treated with UV

All steps in the processing cycle require heavy water use. When rinsing or cleaning, waterborne contaminants can rapidly spread onto surfaces that come in contact with the liquid particles and aerosols.

Powerful UV-C at a radiation level of 254 nanometers disrupts the DNA structure of virus, mold spores, bacteria, and an array of other microorganisms. This means that the water is bacteria free and will help to ensure a higher quality of meat. Read our FAQ post on germicidal ultraviolet light.

The final rinse of meat is intended to wash away any leftover debris or matter that remains. Our SANITRON® and MEGATRON® models can install in line with the CIP water, ensuring that the final rinse uses sanitized, UV-C purified water for meat processing. This mitigates the risk of reintroducing new bacteria, virus, and mold to the meat.

Atlantic Ultraviolet’s patented dual-action wiper mechanism allows for quartz sleeve cleaning while operational, keeping purified water continuously supplied with minimal production downtime. MEGATRON® models have an optional automatic wiper feature that, once programmed, permits unattended quartz sleeve cleaning.

UV Purified Water for Non-Contact Meat Processing Applications

Many facilities now face restrictions on their incoming fresh water due to water shortages. Ultraviolet disinfection enables you to reuse wastewater in non-contact applications such as chillers, allowing you to prioritize your fresh water for processing. UV purification is economical, with hundreds of gallons disinfected for each penny of operating cost. SANITRON® and MEGATRON® can meet municipal regulations requiring disinfection of a facility’s wastewater before it’s discharged.

Modular design enables these units to interconnect for nearly any flow rate in order to meet effluent water capacity. Our UV-C lamps designed for use with SANITRON® and MEGATRON® are energy efficient and produce energy at a wavelength that is lethal to bacteria and other microorganisms. 10,000 hours of continuous use maximizes lamp longevity.
