Why quartz sleeves and not an ordinary glass sleeves?
Ordinary glass is not transparent to germicidal ultraviolet radiation wavelengths — quartz is. In order to provide disinfection, your CRYSTAL CLEAR™ Quartz Sleeve will allow precisely the right amount of ultraviolet rays to pass through, into the air or water.

Stops Dust and Dirt
Dirt on the ultraviolet lamp blocks powerful germicidal rays from reaching the air or water to be sanitized. CRYSTAL CLEAR™ Quartz Sleeves stop the debris from landing directly on the lamp. They provide a protective surface that’s both easy and safe to keep clean. Clean lamps provide the optimum UV wavelength for disinfecting water, air, and surfaces.
Regulate Temperature Variation Around Lamps
Ultraviolet radiation yield will decrease when temperatures vary. In water disinfection systems, cold water passes over the lamps. If used in air duct systems, UV lamps face low temperatures from air velocity. A CRYSTAL CLEAR™ Quartz Sleeve creates a protective temperature barrier around your ultraviolet lamp. This allows high germicidal UV output over a range of temperatures.
Large, Quality-Controlled Inventory
Our quartz sleeves undergo quality control by our trained staff. They are available in a wide range of diameters, wall thicknesses, open or closed ends, and in virtually any length. Firepolishing and custom fabrication are also available upon request. We stock equivalent replacement sleeves for over 200 equipment brands and 5,000 models of ultraviolet equipment.
Maintenance
Quartz sleeves should be inspected one month after initial use. Depending on the condition of the sleeve, you can schedule a more or less frequent routine for future cleaning. Since you may handle the quartz sleeve often, we recommend that you prepare for an occasional accident, and keep a replacement (or a few, depending on your disinfection model) on hand in your maintenance kit.
