Why do you need UV replacement parts?
A UV water purifier is only good if it’s working. Our models, made from stainless steel and the highest quality materials, have stayed running for decades. Still, they need occasional maintenance over the course of their lifespan. In order to keep your UV water purifier continuously operating at optimum strength, certain replacement parts are required after you install it.
Replacement Part #1: UV-C Lamps
Your UV-C lamp holds the power to neutralize many harmful microorganisms. It should be kept in good shape so that its UV intensity stays at the optimum range. You’ll want to keep 1 to 2 backup lamps on hand so you can change it out yearly. Lamp replacement is recommended every 10,000 hours of operation (approximately 12 months of continuous service). Even though your UV lamp may produce visible light after a year, the ultraviolet output will decrease over time.
Replacement Part #2: Quartz Sleeves
In your water purifier, the quartz sleeve is the lamp’s sidekick — its right-hand man. Every effective lamp has a clean quartz sleeve to protect and insulate it. Ordinary maintenance consists of cleaning the quartz sleeve once monthly or more frequently where conditions indicate. While your sleeve should last a long time, having an extra one on hand is helpful if it breaks. For best results, use genuine CRYSTAL CLEAR™ quartz sleeves. If you don’t already own a UV water purifier and want the easiest quartz sleeve cleaning, purchase a model with a dual-action wiper from our SANITRON®open_in_new or MEGATRON®open_in_new product lines. This wiper mechanism is worth its weight in gold. The wiper facilitates periodic cleaning of the quartz sleeve without interruption of the purifier’s operation.
Replacement Part #3: A Set of UV Water Purifier O-Rings and Teflon® Washers
O-rings go around your quartz sleeve and keep it in place within the UV water purifier chamber, also creating a water-tight seal. Teflon® washers push the O-rings in place while protecting them from the wear and tear of the compression fittings. While these items should last a long time, you will benefit from having an extra pair if they should need replacement.
Replacement Part #4: Ballasts
An electronic ballast powers your UV-C lamp, delivering the energy needed for neutralizing many harmful microorganisms. In order to keep your water purifier running smoothly, keep an extra one in stock in case yours should quit working.
Replacement Part #5: Lamp Sockets
Lamp sockets, with their lead wires, are what connect your UV-C lamp to the ballast. If your ballast model does not have these pieces already connected to it, you’ll want them on hand in case you need to replace your ballast.
