Our Team — From Then to Now

The Faces Behind Our Success

This year at Atlantic Ultraviolet Corporation®, we are celebrating 60 years of business in the germicidal ultraviolet industry. Since the beginning, our team has been an asset for us — some members having remained with the company for decades. As we take a look back at our history, we are grateful for those who were with us back then and continue to work with us now.

Ann Wysocki

Old and new photos of Ann, a retired UV-C specialist

Although she is now retired, Ann was one of our team members who was with us the longest. She was hired in June of 1975 by President, Hilary Boehme. The company was only about 12 years old and had just relocated to Long Island from New York City. In addition to the growth in sales she has been part of, Ann witnessed the company’s physical changes (two buildings and two expansions).

There were about eight employees including the two owners when I started. My initial hire was to be the Secretary to the President. Eventually, I started taking on more and more daily tasks and it was time to hire again. It has been exciting to be part of this growing company and to see all the advances that have taken place on the factory floor, in the office, and with the products.

One of her favorite tasks has been helping to create trademark names for the company’s various products. She remarks, “When I started with Atlantic Ultraviolet, we had the Sanitron®, Hygeaire®, and Sanitaire® names — but I believe that is all. So as new products were developed and lines expanded, we needed to find tradenames that would be appropriate for each product. This might seem easy, but it really was a challenge to come up with a name that would make sense for the product and not conflict with other names in the market. We had a small group that would work on ideas and then take a vote. This process was always exciting, and to date we have over 30 products names to our credit (maybe more — I have lost count).”

Our Team Leader: Celeste (Boehme) Kopp, President

Old and new photos of Celeste (Boehme) Kopp, our team President

Celeste is the daughter of co-founder Hilary Boehme. She remembers coming into the factory on Saturdays as a child and playing with sheet metal disks with her siblings.

It’s an honor to continue my father’s legacy of increased health for our customers. He loved that he was creating something that helped people live their lives in a fuller way. Atlantic Ultraviolet has always been part of our lives as a family. We grew up around this business, we came to work for it, and now we’re running it.

Greg Boehme, Vice President

Old and new photos of Greg Boehme, our team VP

Greg is the son of Hilary Boehme who began working here in 1987 in the manufacturing department. Today, you can find him assisting customers as a UV Applications Engineer.

I remember one time, as teenagers, when my dad picked us up from high school to help fulfill an order for hundreds of strip fixtures. That’s where it all began. Then, I started working for the company during summer breaks before coming on full time.

Theresa Azzaretti

Theresa, our Accounts Manager, has worked at Atlantic Ultraviolet since 1987. She was sent for an interview by the business school she attended and was hired shortly thereafter.

It’s been a great company to work for. I have made many wonderful friends and have so many great memories. It’s been a wonderful experience to watch this company grow over the years and to be a part of it.

Tom’s father, Thomas Dituro, co-founded Atlantic Ultraviolet Corporation. Tom has been working with the company since 1988, both in manufacturing and sales.

Mark Wyckoff

Old and new photos of Mark, our former Director of Engineering

Mark, our former Director of Mechanical Engineering, worked here for 34 years before retiring in 2024. Read his story here:

Before working for Atlantic Ultraviolet, I worked a day job for a pump and filter manufacturer in Hauppauge, NY doing Computer-Aided Design (CAD). At night, I taught a class in CAD at BOCES Dix Hills. Hilary enrolled in my class, and after the class ended, he asked if I could set up a CAD system for him.

After meeting with him and setting up his system, I started working for the company as a consultant in March of 1989, working part time with Hilary on nights and weekends. In January 1990, he offered me a position as their mechanical engineer. At the time, I believe the entire company consisted of 12 employees.

Marcie Roberti

If you call our office, you’re likely to speak to Marcie. She is one of our knowledgeable UV Application Specialists. In 1990, she answered an ad in the local paper and the rest is history.

It is a great work environment. I consider my team members family. They have been there for me in good times and hard times. I am so fortunate to have found this company.

Charles Owens

Old and new photos of Charles in the manufacturing department

Charles was referred by a temp agency and has been working in our Manufacturing department since 1993. He began in our Bay Shore, NY office and experienced the transition to our Hauppauge office. He has proudly kept the same parking spot for decades, and has several fond memories from his time with Atlantic Ultraviolet:

For one, I remember when the 2nd floor was just an annex with a railing — before there were offices upstairs. Another is when Hilary traveled to Switzerland to buy manufacturing equipment for our STER-L-RAY ® GX lamps. I’ve always enjoyed our company fishing trips and days at the racetrack.

Our Team Members Who Started It All

Our Employees Who Became Our Owners

While they have since retired, there are no greater examples of company stability than our founders, Hilary Boehme and Thomas Dituro. Having been employees of the company under its previous name, they possessed the knowledge of ultraviolet technology needed to foster its growth. We are indebted to their hard work and eagerness in serving their customers for many years. The business continues to be family owned, now led by Celeste (Boehme) Kopp, Tom Dituro, and Greg Boehme.
